Karolyn M. Miller, MBA, BSN, RN

I founded The FOCUS Academy as a culmination of my passion for supporting children and families through both education and health. I bring over 28 years of experience as a nurse, having served in private, public, and municipal school systems, where I worked closely with students of diverse backgrounds and needs. My career has been rooted in advocating for the whole child—bridging gaps in care, promoting wellness, and ensuring that every student has the support needed to succeed. In addition to my nursing background, I have served as a youth pastor, a preschool teacher, and a health sciences instructor at both the high school and post-secondary levels, which has given me a well-rounded perspective on child development, education, and mentorship.

My work is also deeply personal. As both an advocate and the parent of a twice-exceptional middle school boy, I have firsthand experience navigating the complexities of supporting a child who is both gifted and has unique learning needs. This journey has strengthened my commitment to creating an educational environment that truly sees and supports each child as an individual. The FOCUS Academy was born from this dual lens of professional expertise and personal experience, with a mission to provide a personalized, inclusive learning environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.
